Oration, November 2011

The Golden Jubilee Oration of the Institute of Home Economics of the University of Delhi was held on November 2, 2011. His Excellency Honourable A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India presented the Golden Jubilee Oration. He motivated the students and participants to be unique individuals for which, first of all they have to dream, gain knowledge, work hard and have perseverance and success will definitely come to them. He said that students should dream of an India and have a vision of India 2020 as a nation with diminished rural urban divide, less inequality and inequities in society, no crime against women and children and value oriented education. He also mentioned that each individual should start working from right now to achieve all these objectives. He inspired the students by reciting a poem ‘Wings of Desire’ to fly high and high to fulfill their dreams.

He also had an interactive session with the students where he answered their questions on various issues ranging from present education system to civil society groups.

It was a lifetime experience for all the students, faulty and guests to listen to the visionary and take inspiration from him.

A souvenir and an academic journal were released by Honorable Former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

The Oration marked the culmination of the year long Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Institute of Home Economics.
