Started by the Department of Development Communication and Extension, BA (Hons) program in Journalism offers theoretical and practical skills on the various facets of journalism.

During the three years program, the students are taught an array of subjects ranging from Introduction to Journalism, Media and Communication, Reporting and Editing for Print, Media and Cultural Studies, Broadcast Media, Advertising and Public Relations, New Media, Development Communication, Media Ethics and Law and Global Media and Politics. All the subjects are taught by experienced faculty members specialising in different fields of Journalism.

The course exposes the students to several events throughout the year that provide them an opportunity to interact with stalwarts in the media industry, attend workshops and seminars on contemporary issues. The Department also conducts various short term courses to provide technical skills to our students. Recently, courses on Radio Jockeying, Anchoring and Production and Campus to Corporate were organised by the Department.

After the course, students can pursue careers in various fields such as Print and electronic journalism, freelance journalism, photojournalism, Advertising and Public Relations, Media Planners. They can also opt for various fields in Research and Development, Programme Management in Development sector as Project Managers, Development Communication Officers for media campaigns.

Combination of Subjects for Best Four Calculation:

An aggregate of 45% marks or more in English and combination of best three other elective subjects from List A, List B and Mass Media Studies. Inclusion of more than one subject other than the ones in List A and List B will lead to a deduction of 2.5% per subject on the aggregate.
