Dr. Geeta Punhani

Designation: Associate Professor

Educational Qualifications: B.Sc.; M.Sc. (Community Resource Management, B.Ed., P. G Diploma in Business Management; Ph.D

Experience:Dr. Geeta Punhani is a Gold medalist from University of Delhi, has been teaching at the institute since 1983. Her areas of expertise are Development Communication and Sustainable Development. She has been responsible for imparting theoretical and practical skills and training students to develop IEC materials in print, audio and video formats.

Presently, she is working as co-investigator in a UGC funded project and has just completed a two years research project on Climate Change funded by the Government of India. She has also initiated research, funded by UGC and IIPA on Consumer Welfare and is currently guiding two Ph.D. students. She was invited by the World Bank to their ABCDE conference at Seoul, Korea in June 2009 and presented papers at the AMIC International Conference at Manila, Philippines in July 2008 and New Delhi 2010. Authored a text book titled “Media for Effective Communication” and developed curriculum on “Sustainable Development” for IGNOU under their VET programme in November 2010.

Dr. Parveen Pannu

Designation: Associate Professor

Educational Qualifications:B.Sc. Hons. (Food and Nutrition);M.Sc. (Community Resource Management);Post Graduate Diploma in “Participatory Development” (IGNOU);Ph.D.

Experience:She is an Associate Professor, Department of Communication & Extension, teaching extension, gender studies, development journalism and communication.

She has presented several research papers in National & International conferences on use of Information Communication Technologies for achieving health/development/gender rights and on the use of mobile phone among the low income group.

Has Co-authored books: “ICT4D- Information Communication Technology for Development” and “Interior Design and Decoration” and developed curriculum on “Development Communication and Extension” and “NGO Management” for IGNOU (SOVET Programme).

She is Principal Investigator of a research project on “Female Foeticide” funded by UGC and on “Radio Messages for Elderly” by DST.

She has been Member of the Evaluation Committee of Doordarshan, Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) to preview proposals of various genres varying from entertainment to reality shows and many others and Grand Jury Member for Manthan Award for Digital Inclusion for Development South Asia 2010 (by Ministry of Communication & IT, GOI and Digital Empowerment Foundation).

Dr. Savita Aggarwal

Designation: Associate Professor

Educational Qualifications:M.Sc. (Community Resource Management and Extension),PG Dip.in Journalism and Mass Communication, Ph. D.

Experience:Dr. Savita Aggarwal has been teaching in the institute for more than 25 years. She was awarded B.J. Patel Memorial medal by the Vice-President of India and Dr. Durga Deulkar Memorial award by Lady Irwin College for being the first rank holder in M.Sc. in Delhi University. She has been involved in teaching research and extension in the areas of gender studies, environment and climate change, adult education and other development issues and concerns. She has been the Principal Investigator for research projects on gender, climate change and communication funded by Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India, Winrock Intertnational India and UGC. Currently, she is guiding two Ph. D. students. She has authored two books ,’Quality of life of farm women: Impact of adoption of Modern Agricultural Technology’ and ‘Media for Effective Communication’.

Yuki Azaad

Designation: Assistant Professor

Educational Qualifications:M.A (Mass Communication), AJK MCRC, Jamia Milia Islamia, 2006.

Experience:Ms. Yuki Azaad is Assistant Professor of Communication & Extension at Institute of Home Economics since 2007. She is also an independent documentary filmmaker and has extensive production experience. She has directed and acted in numerous stage/street plays and TV serials on socially relevant issues.

She has presented several research papers in National & International conferences. Her publications include a book chapter titled ‘M- Governance for Development. She has also Co-authored a book ‘ICT4D- Information Communication Technology for Development’. Presently she is Co-investigator of research project funded by University Grants Commission.

Her research interests center on Entertainment-Education Communication Strategies; Persuasion for Social Change; and ICT4D.

Ms. Neeti Vaid

Designation: Assistant Professor

Educational Qualifications:B.Sc. and M Sc. In Community Resource Management and Extension, Delhi University

Experience:Ms. Neeti Vaid joined the Delhi University in 2008 and has been involved in teaching communication and extension. She has presented several papers/participated in various National & International Conferences/Seminars/Symposia. Besides these, Ms. Vaid has undertaken various research projects. Presently she is Co-investigator of research project on “Female Foeticide” funded by University Grants Commission. She has also developed curriculum on “Development Communication and Extension” and “NGO Management” for IGNOU (SOVET Programme).
