Dr. (Mrs.) Poonam Sachdev

Designation: Associate Professor

Educational Qualifications: M.Sc.; M.Phil. (Social Anthropometry); Ph.D.

Experience:Dr. Poonam Sachdev has been teaching at the institute since 1979. She completed her Ph.D. from Delhi University on the issue of Beggar Problem in Delhi. She has published a number of papers in national and international journals and presented papers in conferences. Her areas of interest are gerontology, women issues, issues related to the youth and current social affairs. An ardent lover of music and art, she is a very active member of the cultural societies of the college and is very closely involved in organization of student’s events and the college festival.

Renu Gulati

Designation: Associate Professor

Educational Qualifications: M.Sc. Child Development; Ph.D

Experience:Dr Renu Gulati has been teaching at the college for over 25 years. Besides her position as a faculty member she has been appointed as a consultant to schools and an expert on various committees/organistions working in the area of adoption, childhood disability and care of the elderly. She has also been a visiting faculty for post-graduate courses in disability and counseling. Has presented papers in various national conferences and has been the coordinator of the college cultural committee for the last six years.

Mila Tuli

Designation: Associate Professor

Educational Qualifications:M.Sc. Child Development, Ph.D

Experience:Dr. Mila Tuli has been working in the Department of Human Development and Childhood Studies since 1994. Her work is in the area of childhood, family and culture and she has developed a keen interest in the significance of ethnographic and qualitative research procedures. She has published several papers in journals and a book as well as presented her work at various seminars and conferences. She has been a guest faculty for the post graduate course on Counselling run by NIPCCD for the last five years.

Dr. Geeta Chopra

Designation: Associate Professor

Educational Qualifications:M.Sc. Child Development; Ph.D

Experience:Dr. Geeta Chopra has been teaching at the Institute for more than 28 years. She has authored a book ' Child Rights in India- Challenges and Social Action' published by SPRINGER, available on Springer link and Amazon. She has developed a training module for grassroots level community health and child care workers on ‘Prevention, Early detection and Early intervention in Childhood Disabilities’. She has also authored three guide-books on childhood disabilities which are available on the website of Ministry of Women and Child Development, www.poshan.nic.in. She is a keen researcher and has received funding for research from UGC, Min of Social Justice and Empowerment and the World Bank. Her major interest areas are Childhood Disabilities, Child Rights, Early Childhood Education and Inclusive Education. She has been guiding Ph.D. students regularly. She is a founder member-secretary of an NGO, Manzil, which offers services to preschool children, youth and women mostly belonging to the slum dwellings of South Delhi.

Veenu Wadhwa

Designation: Assistant Professor

Educational Qualifications:

Experience:: Dr. Veenu Wadhwa has been teaching at the institute since 1990. She has been very actively involved in the planning, administration and functioning of the ‘IHE Play School,’ run by the department since 2004. She has been instrumental in starting the ongoing library programme to enhance reading skills in children at various ages. She also took the initiative, of setting up the ‘IHE School of performing arts’ that offers after school classes in art and various dance and music forms. ‘Summer Workshops’ have also been organized during the summer vacations for children between 3-12 years of age. Dr. Wadhwa has been a ‘Consultant’ to ‘Gramin Shiksha Kendra’ a school for the underprivileged community in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan since 2003.

Bhavna Negi

Designation: Assistant Professor

Educational Qualifications:M.Sc. Child Development

Experience:Bhavna has been teaching in the Department of Human Devlopment at IHE since 2004. She has worked as a researcher/coordinator on several projects with CARE India and Ankur Society on issues of domestic violence and education of marginalized children. She has also been invited as a resource person for DPEP and for NIPCCD. She has presented a paper in a National workshop on Early Learning organized by Katha.

Ms. Renu

Designation: Assistant Professor

Educational Qualifications:M.Sc. Child Development; B.Ed.

Experience:Prior to joining the institute, Ms. Renu has worked as Project assistant in NIPCCD and a s a voluntary worker in NGOs Pratham and Amar Jyoti.
